If you are considering purchasing solar panels for your home in order to generate income through the Feed-in Tariff, we also offer this alternative.
This page explains the relative merits of buying your solar panels or having a free installation.
This page covers the main points of purchasing solar panels. Further information may be found in the FAQ’s.
All through the day, your panels generate free electricity. At night time, your supply will automatically switch back to the grid. Partnership with FreeSolar ensures that you receive the best advice on making the most of your panels.
The key benefit in purchasing your solar array is that you receive the income from both the generation of the electricity and the sale of excess to the grid.
The Paperwork Should you choose to purchase your solar panels, you hold responsibility for any paperwork. This includes insurance and informing your mortgage lender.
You own the panels If you pay for the panels, you own them outright. This means that you are free to remove the panels if you wish to. You are not tied into any contract with us, nor under obligation to allow us access in order to perform maintenance. However, when you buy the panels, you are purchasing them as a standalone entity. You mustpay the connection charge and you are, of course, responsible for the maintenance and the purchase of any necessary replacement parts.
If you decide to buy the panels, you need to ensure that you can make this commitment. In order to get a return on your investment, you would need to stay in your house for at least ten years. Were you to leave sooner, you could lose your investment.

The key benefit in installing free solar panels is that they are free. Domestic solar arrays can cost up to £12,000 and if you are unable to purchase them outright, not all banks will provide finance for renewable energy systems. Furthermore, we pay for the installation as well as the connection charges and the maintenance. In the event that any parts should need replacing, that is our responsibility and you are not liable for any charges.
No wait for a return on your investment. Although buying solar panels can be considered an investment, you can expect to wait at least ten years before you see a return.
You lose nothing if you move house Circumstances change all the time, often unexpectedly. If you pay for your panels and then move house, you will lose your investment. If the panels are offered at no cost, then if you move out of your home, you lose nothing.
Choosing free solar also means that we take care of all the paperwork, including informing your mortgage lender.
We own the panels and if for any reason you need to remove the panels, you will be required to pay for their removal. However, this means we are entirely responsible for their upkeep.
